Importance of Birth Record

Did I ever think of searching my mother’s birth record! My maternal grandfather passed away and there was a dispute of property among his heirs. I needed to find my mom’s birth record to establish her legal right on the property. Like me, there many who are looking for Birth Records of their relatives, friends, and ancestors or near and dear ones. Not only that, you will find a large number of genealogy and family history researchers looking for authentic birth records. The adoptees as well, try to find from the birth records about their birth parents and their actual root.

While looking for my mother’s birth records I was surprised to discover so much about the birth records. These vital records contain so much information about the birth of a person like, date of birth, place of birth, the names of the mother and father, and even the physician who attended the birth. Birth certificates, which are the legal record of birth are issued by state and local governments and contain the information like, the place of residence, and the mother’s maiden name.

Birth record means a lot to us, it is our identity and a proof of birth records is required everywhere, for voting, applying for the citizenship of a country, getting driver’s license, and for various registration purposes.
For a certified copy of Birth Certificate one has to obtain it through the U.S. State Department as the federal government does not distribute the Birth Certificates. In most of the states there is a centralized source of vital records from where Birth Certificates can be ordered. But it depends on the specific state as the set of rules, ordering instructions and fees may vary from state to state.

The birth certificates are of three types: The Original Birth Certificate which contains the records filed at birth; The Amended Birth Certificate which is the revised form of the original birth certificate containing the corrected or new information and the Delayed Birth Certificate which is issued many years after birth as the original certificate was not filed due to some reason.

While talking about the birth records I would like to share that I was fortunate enough and did not have to waste much time and money to get to the reliable source of information. Thanks to the modern day internet service that has brought almost everything in hand. I was in two minds about where to look for the proper records and with the advice of my colleague tried my luck with the online Birth Record Search Service Providers. It saved a lot of money, time and labor and you would be happy to know that quite easily I established my mother’s right on the property with the help of her birth records. But at the same time I would like to make one aware of choosing the right site among the hundreds on the internet.
